(More customer reviews)Maytag sells this microwave as a replacement for model # MMV1153AA, so I bought it when my old microwave blew up, hoping I could just drop it in. However, the wall mounting bracket is completely different, so is the location of the screw holes on top that holds the microwave oven to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet. It is also 1 1/8 inch taller than the older model, so make sure you will have room for it! Also the power cable has to go through a hole in a different location than model MMV1153AA. None of the holes in your cabinet for model MMV1153AA will work with this model, you will need to drill new holes. Apart from that inconvencience it is a great microwave oven.

(More customer reviews)This microwave looks good, but as a microwave that cannot generate microwave, it is useless.
I had used several microwave stoves before, some of them around $50, some around $100, but none of them stopped working within 3 yrs--except this expensive one. We called GE customer service, they told me the magnetron tube was broken, and they also told me this happens because, statistically, the failure rate of this magnetron tube is 3-4 percent. I don't need to be a magnetron-tube engineer to understand this rate. As a regular customer, I just know this failure rate is too high to be accepted.
If GE continues to make this kind of products, it will become another GM soon, and they can only depend on the government bailout to survive.

(More customer reviews)Broke after 13 mos. (12 mo. warranty here in US, 24 mo. in UK). Loud buzzing noise. Don't plan to spend $$$ to repair, not worth it. Sensor presets for heating dinner plates, potatoes, vegetables, etc. are useless. Baked potato preset, for instance, yields potatoes that are well cooked and ready to explode when timer claims 2 1/2 minutes to go. Reheat dinner plates (like meat, veggies and potatoes or Chinese food) will generate dried charcoal if left to run automatic sensor settings. Pizza setting about the same disaster. "Popcorn" however, works reasonably well.
THIS IS A "FULL FEATURE" SENSOR TYPE MICROWAVE ONLY IN THE EYES OF MARKETING AND SALES PEOPLE, NOT IN ACTUAL CAPABILITIES! IF YOU WANT A 1970'S STYLE MICROWAVE (PLUG IN TIME, PUSH START AND WATCH FOOD TO SEE IF YOUR ESTIMATE IS GOOD), BUY THIS, OTHERWISE, RUN FROM THIS ONE.

Bought a Maytag Model MMV5165BAB over the range 1.6 cu. ft. micro in March of 2009.
It died on 12-26-2010, 20 months and then DEAD MICROWAVE. It sounded like it was working but the turntable stopped turning
and no heating at all. We bought Maytag due to their reputation for long lasting appliances, Well NO MORE!!!.
They are now owned by Whirlpool which we've had before and had numerous breakdowns in both a Washer, Dryer
and Refrigerator, and now they've effectively killed Maytag.
We scored this Microwave, in Black, at a local dealer on an end of year sale, and Not only does it just 'pop in'
to the mounting structure of the old one, it is alot quieter than the Maytag and it heats ALOT quicker than that
old unit! Same size, same 1000 watt power, but seems much more efficient. The underside light that shines on the
top of the range is bright and blows away the Maytag light. So, all said and done, we're extremely happy with this
Samsung! It seems very very well built, it's heating blows away the Maytag, and it's a very good looking unit.
RIP Maytag, you've lost another customer. Buyer Beware!!

Bottom line... I love the inverter magnetron which cooks at an even level of power rather than cycling 100% power. My only dislike is around the kitchen timer which doesn't keep beeping when it's done and won't allow you to use the microwave while it's counting.
Overall I do recommend this oven.

We emailed for service and AJ Madison emailed us back 2 days later to call Whirlpool warranty service. They came out, ordered parts and it is 2 weeks later and they say parts are on backorder.....

(More customer reviews)No complaints on its ability to wash dishes. However, the metal latch which locks the door is very sharp. I sliced open my finger on it while loading the rack with some dishes and needed to get three stitches.
It's surprising to me, but I would have thought that a company like Whirlpool would have figured out by now that the parts inside the dishwasher shouldn't be sharp.

(More customer reviews)This microwave replaced my 10 year old Kenmore MW. After using this for a week I wished my older one had died sooner. ;) This is a far better product considering my older MW didn't have a convection cooking option.
Pros
* Has all the features we need. Two level cooking is a plus.
* Convection oven cooks evenly and quickly.
* powerful vent.
* This microwave looks great!
Cons
* The vent fan is powerful but very loud - louder than the average microwave.
* the light under the MW far back so it doesn't provide lighting right above the range beneath it.
I am a DIY kinda guy and I installed this microwave myself in under 2 hours. The microwave comes with instructions, a template and a bracket like all other over-the-counter microwaves come with. If you plan to install it yourself, then you will find buying the microwave from Amazon as the cheapest option. However, if you are going to hire someone to install it for you, it will cost you around $150 more. One of the local stores was willing to give $75 towards the installation costs which would've made it the cheaper option if we would've got it professionally installed. So factor that in before making your purchase.
