(More customer reviews)I did not buy this unit from Amazon (or the seller), but rather bought it locally. My first unit lasted about 6 months, and I thought it was great. Then it started to have issues. Temperature would reset itself to whatever it wanted. This was not good, but not the end of the world either.... Then it started to run constantly. I came down one morning to find condensation running off the front door, the temp read 39*F... Needless to say I had to turn it off right away. After 3 service attempts the unit was finally replaced. The replacement was not able to cool (just the cabinet with no wine) to anything cooler than 78* in ambient air temps of 77*...
I would highly recommend staying away from this product. I also found Danby very hard to deal with. The wait time was always over 30-minutes when calling their customer care.

(More customer reviews)I bought my magic chef from Home Depot less than 3 years ago. Apparently the condenser coils broke and cannot be repaired or replaced. Now, the word from the Magic Chef authorized dealer is that these wine coolers are pieces of junk and most of them don't even last 2 years! They told me never to buy another magic chef wine cooler. Best to save up for something more durable and with better customer service. Buyer beware.

The second unit was defective as well; the screw holes to attach the door handle were misaligned and the handle would not attach properly. I think it is safe to assume at this point that there are serious quality control issues with this brand. This time I requested a refund. If the rating system allowed me to give it zero stars I would.

This free-standing wine cellar is cooled by thermoelectric module system. It's capacity is 18 bottles (25fl.oz.). The wine cellar has two zone sections for greater convenience. The upper zone will hold 6 bottles and the lower zone will hold 12 bottles. The upper zone will cool to 45°F - 54°Fand the lower zone to 54°F - 65°F with its easy control digital setting. (More customer reviews)The unit has a nice feature of being able to store white and red wines at your selected temp. The size is very good and was perfect for the area we wanted to place it. It holds the selected temp just fine but if the power is interupted you will need to reset your settings. It does have a few shortcomings... It is much louder than a standard fridge given it's size. The shelves that you must use to remove a bottle don't fit very well at all and they will drop out of their slots while in use. These wood shelves are all very cheaply made. The LED lights inside are all but useless. The door must be opened fully (180 degrees) in order to slide out a shelf to remove the bottle. We have a GE unit in another location that is a much better unit but only has single selected temp. It did cost nearly twice what this unit did.
If/when it dies I will not replace it with this brand or model. It proved to point that you get what you pay for.

(More customer reviews)Nicely built, lovely to look at, great built in beverage fridge. The glass door is beautifully transparent, the shelves adjustable and all items on them very accessible.
The lowest temperature setting is 40 degree Fahrenheit but the temperature swings between 44 and 40 as part of maintaining the 40 degree base setting. I wold have preferred a fridge that goes as low as 34 degrees, since beverages will warm up when retrieved from the fridge. It runs quietly and is otherwise a great built-in.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this wine cooler from Wine Enthusiast a month ago to replace a larger Danby cooler that we had used for a little over four years. The Danby suddenly developed a fatal flaw that could not be fixed (the temperature kept increasing and could not be controlled). Needless to say, we were not interested in buying another Danby product. To control energy costs and conserve space, we looked for a smaller model, and the "Silent" model from Wine Enthusiast looked like it would fit the bill. We also liked the size, because we were considering placing it in our kitchen. When it arrived, we decided that, to keep the kitchen uncluttered, we would place the cooler in the laundry room, and we're glad we did. This model is by no means "silent." It has been installed with plenty of room on all sides, seems to be keeping a fairly steady temperature (plus/minus 1 degree of setting), but it does have a noticeable hum. In fact, it makes more noise than our kitchen's Amana refrigerator. The unit looks attractive, but you should be aware that larger bottles (particularly Burgandy-shaped bottles--those wider at the bottom than the top, and most champagne bottles) will not fit in this unit. In fact, even to load or remove standard Bordeaux bottles, you have to pull the tray partly out and carefully jiggle it back in. I guess that's the price you pay for the unit's compact size.

(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that this is the one of the worst products I have ever purchased. And I say that with all honesty. I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present a little over 1 year ago.
My list of problems are as follows (in chronological order):
1)The unit was EXTREMELY noisy since new, to the point where guests would comment about it from 2 rooms away. I was willing to live with this if this were the only problem.
2) I have experienced Heavy condensation on the outside of the glass door. The condensation was so bad that it left a puddle 2' in diameter on the wood floor in my dining room. So Bad that I built a pedestal with a tray under it to catch the condensation and not ruin the floor.
3) POOR service on a scale of 1-10 (10 being Excellent) they are a -30. Absolutely HORRIBLE. I contacted Danby's customer service department, after 5 calls I was able to get someone in person, to try and get the condensation issue resolved. they referred me to the local service rep for my area (12 miles South of Boston) who refused to come out to come out and fix the problem. They would not even schedule an appointment. After getting a different service rep to honor the warrantee and waiting 2 weeks for an appointment, they refused to provide any service. Both the Service rep and Danby stated that this was a "Normal" condition and that people called with similar problems "All the time". There is no way that if you buy a Wine Cooler like this that you should have to worry about it ruining the floor on which it sits!!! This was absolutely infuriating!!
4) After the service (if you want to call it that) FIASCO, I was surprised to find the door of the unit popped open. Upon investigating open door, I found one of my favorite bottles of wine with the cork popped out due to being FROZEN!! That's right FROZEN!! Can't tell you how long it was like that because due to the noise the unit makes, I placed it in a corner that is out of the way and thereby not in the direct line of sight. It seems the electronics are stuck and the unit will not shut off. The temperature display shows E3 which I assume is an error (no reference in the Manual) I am going to call Danby again to try and get this new issue resolved, as the cooler is still under warrantee.
5) I was able to get the unit to reset on my own by letting the fridge sit overnight unplugged. The only thing I can think of is that there was Ice built up on the thermocouple that controls the bottom half of the unit and that was causing the error code, the unit did function properly for 2 mos after the the event listed in item number 4. But Danby still refuses to service the product.
This is an absolute piece of @*&%^&^^. DON'T waste your money!!! If I seem harsh, take that as an indication of the quality of the product. Don't get caught in the same trap I did. The cooler looks nice and that is all it does nicely.
UPDATE:
After having this unit freeze my wine TWICE and ruining 8+ bottles of wine, I have decided to THROW IT AWAY!!! I ordered another unit from Sears tonight after finding my wine frozen for a SECOND time. Danby refuses to support their product. I can't remember a purchase I regret more. Danby's service is abysmal and the product is garbage!!! Please learn from my mistake. The only reason this product gets 1 star is because Amazon will not let a reviewer put in 0 stars.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit, installed it under my counter with a few inches all around for ventilation. It took two days to approach temperature and struggles when the room temp is over 75 degrees.
After 14 months the LED failed. I paid $38 for a replacement, which was sent without instructions. Edgestar service said, "I think it might just pop out." It actually is screwed in from behind.
By 15 months, I went to get a both of white wine from the 53 degree side to find it was about 80 degrees. Now neither side cools. Edgestar customer service couldn't guess what was wrong. They suggested, "Try Googling small appliance repair and your ZIP code." I was unable to find anyone familiar with repair of thermoelectric units. I should have suspected something with a cooling unit warranty of only 90 days parts & labor and 12 months parts. Anyone want a room temperature wine storage unit? It is pretty nice looking.

(More customer reviews)The only bad thing i can say about this item is that one of the rubber foots/feet came off when putting the item into its area. It was resolved by just putting the foot back where it broke from and it doesnt wobble or anything. I dont know if they sell replacement feet or not but it wasnt worth my time trying to get it fixed when i had it for 2 hours.
This unit is wonderful to look at and i enjoy the large size and the ability to look into the fridge and seeing all my wonderful bottles of wine! The racks only really hold the normal sized bottles and not the large ones or some of my champagne bottles. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how open bottles can still be put back into the fridge without spilling or leaking (by not being on its side but at an angle), but that was the biggest selling point for me with this fridge. I looked for others and could not find any with this feature under 1k.
A drawback: the door doesnt quite seem to open far enough to easily allow the racks to come out. Not a big deal but could be for some people.
Another possible drawback: when the fridge was first turned on it kind of had a whining "fridge running" kind of noise that was louder than the normal fridge. That went away and now has the same sounds as my normal fridge does when it turns on to keep the temperature.
