Have gone through two of these refrigerators. The first one shook and squeaked like crazy every time we opened its door. The repair tech's solution was to "level" the fridge. They "leveled" the fridge over 10 times in 18 months. The first fridge also frequently made a very loud, random clicking noise. The noise could be heard over the TV, movies, etc... It was extraordinarily disturbing, especially when the family is trying to have a quiet dinner or even watch a movie in the living room. After going through hell (about 20-30 hours on the phone and over a dozen useless, failed service calls) GE finally replaced the fridge (only because the developer of our new house forced the local sales rep to replace it; GE customer service basically told us to F-off). And the new fridge makes an even louder clicking sound! WTF?!
Avoid ALL GE products like the plague. They are a worthless company that doesn't give a rat's a55 about customer service and cares even less about taking thousands of your hard-earned dollars in exchange for a useless product that is designed to fail miserably.

(More customer reviews)This model is as close to the one we bought that I can find on Amazon. Ours is a GE Profile PFSS2 with filtered water and built in icemaker. It's stainless steel and matches everything else on this mode. The adjustable shelves are what makes this a great fridge. You decide how much space between shelve both inside and on the doors. So that you can make small condiment shelves and then have lots of room for big bottles. Under on of the shelves is a rack which holds twelve cans of soda, just like the ones in the market; it's angled so they flow forward as you pull each can out. All the shelves are on wheels and pull out, making it easy to find what your looking for.
There are lights placed all around the inside of the fridge so there are no dark spots where the light is blocked by a 2 liter bottle or a casserole dish. The bins are mostly see through so that you can find what you want without having to open them. There's one shelf that splits in half allowing you to put tall bottles on the shelf below without having to shift shelves around.
Only two complaints: 1) the filtered water is great if your right handed but is impossible to use left-handed (just a bunch of right handed bigots)
2) the off-switch for the in freezer ice-maker is located behind the bin that holds the ice and is awkward to get to; don't think they expect you to use it much
All in all we are quite pleased with the visual effect of having most of what you want right at eye level.

(More customer reviews)I bought my house, and found that the previous owners had done their own kitchen remodel which left a really strange size cutout for the fridge. It took me weeks to find this one which (as far as I can tell) is the only counter depth and narrow refrigerator. Anyway, it is a good fridge. No complaints. The fridge is cool looking, but the only reason that I can think someone would buy this one is for size. If you aren't restricted by size, I would look at a wider fridge.
Good things to know... There is an inline water filter (works good, easy to change), ice maker doesn't take up too much room, the fridge is counter depth (they don't advertise it as such but you can tell by the dimensions and the back is flat). The inside is small but the fridge doesn't look freakishly small. Oh, the ice maker is temperamental; it doesn't bother me but if you love ice this could be a problem.
Almost no one carries these; if you need to "see" it I found a Samsung at the big box retailers that is about the same size. If more than two people live in your house, or you like to buy big soda bottles, etc., maybe take a peek at something with similar dimensions before you buy.

(More customer reviews)Even if you never use the crushed ice, when using the cubed ice small chips fall to the floor, melting and creating a danger if someone falls. Both the repairman and two Samsung customer service reps, said yes it does that and we won't exchange a refrigerator if you don't like the design. Yet, in the store the ice makers aren't hooked up, so you can't tell what it does.
The shiny black looks good, is large and reasonable for cost; although it's noisy.
Turns out there are two kinds of ice makers:
1. works like twisting old plastic ice cube trays and produces chips of ice, this Samsung
2. works by a turning of metal to push the ice out, like the past refrigerators we've owned and no problem with ice maker
Unless you want to wipe your floor every time you use the ice maker, don't buy this refrigerator. If someone falls in your home you could be liable, Samsung is at fault.

(More customer reviews)Got the GX5SHDXV model, similar to the one shown, about a week ago. It was originally $1298 at Lowes, but the floor model had paint scratches, so they marked it down to $1k. Lowes delivered it (an adventure in itself) but I installed it and set it up. So far so good, it's quiet, makes lots of ice quickly, and has the Energy Star qualification that should save $$ on my electric bill.
There is only one gallon storage shelf in the door; I wrote Whirlpool to send me another to replace the can dispenser shelf that I won't use.
The refrigerator drawers slide nicely, as does the freezer compartment drawer.
The paint finish is very good, once I cleaned off all the tape residue from Lowes (why do they do that?) I used auto detailing spray to make it shine.

(More customer reviews)Pros: The full width, but shallow produce/deli drawer is useful and good to have a selectable temp according to what's in it. We set the temp to Deli and keep sliced meats and cheese in it and its perfect for that, wide but shallow so everything is visible. That drawer complements the usual 2 produce drawers which are directly above. Door storage is nicely adjustable. The freezer has an upper drawer that works well for storage.
Cons: The icemaker kicks the ice into the tray with a real racket. Our old Amana made some noise this way, but this one wakes me up some nights. The ice thru the door will splash the drink onto the floor if there is already liquid in the glass (maybe other models do this too). The buttons on the door for controlling the fridge and thru-door functions aren't very good. The buttons are part of a smooth face, but the lighted phrases that indicate the mode are not buttons, the buttons are around the edges and aren't lit. Most folks try to press on the lighted phrases, which is more intuitive. For instance, to get ice thru the door, you have to first look and see if the symbol above "cubed", "crushed", or "water", is lit, and if your desired selection is not lit, you have to press the button marked "ice & water", WHICH IS NOT LIT, until your desired selection is lit. I know how to work it now, but no one new figures it out without help.
I should caveat these cons with the fact that we chose this fridge without trying it out first. We went to a Sears scratch and dent store, where we were able to save $1000 off list, but the models weren't powered up for demo. If I could have tried them powered up and found another model with more intuitive door controls I might have chosen that. But overall it is a very good fridge, especially at the price we paid.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this refrigerator several months ago when the one in our new Coop broke down. We did not shop around, but my husband and I both felt that "you really can't go wrong with GE" as we have purchased GE refrigerators and stoves before when we upgraded other properties we owned. Boy were we wrong. As soon as the refrigeator arrived we noticed that the quality was poor. Where do I begin???? there is an awkward seam down the back of the fridge that is not even centered and looks as though someone glued two pieces together. The clean steel scratches easily and if you look at at the top of the refrigerator you will note that the steel was applied as a sheet that covers only the front of the door and does not extend all the way to the edges (poor workmanship). The water/ice dispenser sticks some times. The glass inside the refrigerator is terrible quality and scratches easily. The same goes for the door compartments. Really, the quality is so bad that it makes me angry to think that we paid $1,750 total including taxes and delivery. I would have gladly paid more for a quality product. Again, we have owned other GE refrigerators that did not have these problems.

(More customer reviews)I'm broken & Samsung DOES NOT fix my repair. And Samsung owners cannot work in order to entertain their repair technicians who "visit" regularly but unsuccessful in their repairs.
Prior to purchasing, I researched French-door Refrigerators & discovered many Samsung refrigerators experienced the same problem--freezer "frosting" & many negative reviews of problems with Samsung repairs.Also, MANY negative reviews of frosting problem & Samsung's failure to successfully repair the problems. Shortly after purchase, the negative reviews disappeared from web; hmmm, the power of Samsung!
Unit purchased from Oldsmar, FL's Famous Tate (F/T); their sales staff & repair technicians denied knowledge of continuing freezer "frosting" problems & assured me Samsung or F/T repair technicians were capable of fixing all problems as they were former employees of Samsung. After months of service calls, I notified both Samsung & Famous Tate (via email) of situation. F/T excused the problem based upon Samsung's customer service records of owners' continuing cancelled scheduled repairs.
I experienced freezer frosting problems first hand. Samsung excuses/assurances: belt needs to be replaced...lower drawer out of alignment...everything is fine...poor installation...another belt needs replacement...MY FAV & BEST EXCUSE: "due to today's energy-savings technology, FREEZERS ARE NO LONGER FROST FREE!!!"
Husband's turn to handle this mess. Last week's service techician's recommendation to Samsung: our new $2,640+ Samsung counter-depth refrigerator/freezer, Model RFG237AA, "was DEFECTIVE & should be replaced." No word from Samsung, its service tech nor deceptive Famous Tate.
Stay away from any Samsung products (ALL appliances, flat-screen tvs 's, cell phones, etc.) are warrantied but the repair techs give lame excuses & are unsuccessful, therefore, Samsung warranties are useless!
FYI: by registering Samsung products online, it extends their useless warranty by another 3 months...what a gift!

(More customer reviews)We just purchased this refrigerator and are loving the extra space we have in our kitchen with the counter depth design. However, the ice maker gets ice caught up in it after dispensing into a glass and the caught cubes melt and run down the front of the refrigerator. Also, we have similar problems with the water dispenser. The water continues to drip from the dispenser after filling a glass causing it to run down the dispensing flap and down the front of the refrigerator, causing a puddle on the floor. The dispenser shelf itself is not very deep and is a poor design. I'm also having trouble getting accustomed to the storage shelves in the refrigerator door. The very bottom (unadjustable) door shelf is so slim, the only possible thing you could use it for is a kid's juice box which makes it useless for myself and my husband. It fits absolutely nothing else! The three top door shelves adjust and hold gallon milk containers, but it could use one more lower notch to make them more useful for tall items. The fourth adjustable shelf is shallower. The overall space inside of the refrigerator & freezer is fine for us. I just wish we could've seen one of these models in person before we ordered it.

Samsung DMT800RHS Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Stainless Steel Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this model only about a week, and I like it a lot so far. I replaced a 13 yr old Whirlpool that was still working, just really noisy. I was a little hesitant at first seeing some of the DMT300 reviews on dish drying, but my unit does not seem to be having any trouble with this. I used the rinse aid as suggested and our dishes are dryer and cleaner than with our old dishwasher.
I like the display on the front that indicates which cycle it is in. The control buttons are hidden on top, so the cool blue indicator lights on front are nice. The inside of the unit seems bigger than our old model, and it is definitely bigger than some of the Bosch units we looked at. While it is not "silent", I find the noise level to be quite low.
This unit is easy to install yourself, however there are a couple of important points that you should know if you are replacing an old dishwasher:
1) The unit does not come with a power cord, so make sure to pull the one from your old unit. Actually, this is pretty absurd not to have one!
2) You must add a 90 deg, 3/8" elbow for the water line. It also is not included so you will have to buy one. Again, this is absurd!
3) You don't need to keep the drain hose since it is attached to the back of the unit.
4) The power and water supply are on the front bottom of the unit behind the kickplate. Nice for access, however if your old parts are not long enough to reach to the front then you will need new ones.
Overall I am pleased with the unit so far. If anything changes I will update my review.

(More customer reviews)I actually have the EI26SS65GS which only differs slightly with the touch controls.
The high point of this refrigerator that makes it stand out from the crowd is that it is fully constructed in stainless steel while the others just have stainless steel cladding in the front but not on the sides.
This makes for a handsome refrigerator since this is not a counter depth model so the sides show.
Both freezer and refrigerator interior has ample storage. The interior lights have a nice effect of being initally dim at first and then fully brightens up.
A good point is the vacation mode you can set that saves electricity by not turning on the defrosting cycle when you are away.
My only grievance is the the design of the ice dispenser which delivers the ice (both cubes and crushed) which such force and intensity that the ice is spilled all over the floor and a clean up is always necessary. My 4 year old kid is so afraid to use it.
The delivery men do not install the water dispenser hose so I had to do it myself and it was somewhat of an effort threading it properly. I mis-threaded the first hose and had to buy an aftermarket replacement at $7. It seems that the original hose is hard to find item.
For the $2,500 we paid for it, we expected that the Ice dispenser flaw would have been discoverd and remedied before production.

(More customer reviews)This is Samsung's new line of high-end front-loading laundry machine. Other than the new Electrolux EWFLS70JIW 27 5.1 cu. Ft. Front-Load Washer - Island White, it has the largest capacity among consumer-oriented washers. Yet, its external dimension is similar to other front-loaders, thus fitting easily into standard laundry room space.
I bought this model to replace a 7-year-old Whirlpool : WFW9400SZ 27 Front Load Washer with 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity White/Sapphire Blue, which went kaput when the plastic ring holding the front side of the steel drum in place decayed away under normal usage. Understandably, I chose not to go with Whirlpool again, since many of the Duet's plastic parts have not lasted the 10-15 years I expected from a major appliance. I am not sure how well this Samsung will compare, but I feel it is worth a try even at a relatively high price because Consumer Reports likes this model.
Functionally, it is almost identical to the Duet. The major exceptions are:
1. A substantially larger capacity;
2. The ability to sense the load and adjust water usage automatically;
3. The availability of steam wash.
The first two features are very nice. The last one is questionable, as I consider high temperature a killer to most fabric, but steam seems the new trend in washers.
I bought it from BestBuy. The installers rushed through the job and failed to apply Teflon tape when connecting the hose, leading to a leak that ruined the wall, the hard-wood floor and the basement ceiling tiles. I should have supervised the installation personally. Nowadays, it is unwise to assume professionalism in people one does not know well.
The follow-up with BestBuy's customer service has been hellish. The corporate consumer relation people are nice and polite, but every time they try to hand me off to the local installation department I get a total disconnect, literally, as in being hanged up on. So, after more than a dozen phone calls and several hours on the phone, resolution is still in the air.

(More customer reviews)I would like to let everyone know that this refrigerator is horrible. It has given me nothing but problems. For the price that I paid, I expect much better quality. I would rather have paid more and bought a Viking or a SubZero Unit. As for the problems:
- 2 months after setting up the ice maker, the paddle you press to make the ice dispense started to corrode. I contacted Samsung and they refused to resolve this issue because the unit was over 12 months old. Keep in mind that I was only using the ice maker for 2 months. I didn't hook up the water line to the refrigerator because I was still in the process of remodeling my kitchen.
- There has also been black grease dripping on to my floors from the tracks of the freezer.
- Now, about 6 months after starting to use the ice maker, almost the whole paddle is corroded. I hope this is not toxic.
- I spoke to Samsung about this and they were going to have a different tier of a customer service rep call me but I never received a call.
- There is a black flap in the door that keeps the cold air from the ice maker from coming out. That flap is now broken and there is a lot of condensation forming.
- There are bits of plastic that are breaking off from the inside of the ice maker and falling into my cup. I hope I don't choke and die.
For all of you who read this, let this be a warning that Samsung products are the worst products to buy. Learn from my mistake. Their customer service is pitiful and their products are very low quality.

(More customer reviews)We purchased our set with a manufacturing date of 01.31.10.
I was a bit nervous about selecting these machines to purchase after reading a few complaints (overall, there weren't too many) about clothes not being cleaned, an occasional mechanics problem requiring resolution, noise, etc. and had decided the machines were either 'love it' or 'hate it.' I took the plunge anyhow and am so thrilled I did!
After owning the machines for a brief time, I can proclaim I'm definitely in the 'LOVE IT!' camp! Further, without wishing to offend anyone, I will even imply people who are in the 'hate it!' camp 1) perhaps have not read their instruction manuals thoroughly so they know how to properly use and care for their machines as well as understand their limitations, or 2) perhaps aren't using the machines properly. There seem to be some service / part replacement complaints from people, but those seem centered around models with earlier manufacturing dates than the set I own.
I have never been able to get my whites this clean without bleach or OxiClean or some other whitening agent, so I was truly impressed with the Silvercare feature (especially after wondering if it might be just hype and marketing). Silvercare really works, and works well! I can confidently sanitize things without worrying about using a great deal of resources other than cold water to do so, and ditching the bleach is a wonderful thing - I really don't think I'll need to use it anymore!
The steam features have already helped remove dirt and stains my last washer could never remove, leaving me quite impressed, and the refresh cycle on the dryer is a real boon when there isn't time to iron or quick-wash. I love being able to deep-steam more heavily soiled items like my son's soccer gear and have them come out looking pristine!
These machines are every bit as quiet as advertised - I can barely hear the washer (properly leveled) operating, and this allows me to do laundry at my convenience even at nighttime without disturbing the rest of the household. The dryer is dramatically quieter than my last one as well, and the lack of overall laundry noise is fantastic!!
I love the beauty of the machines - the polished understated glamor of the platinum set is fantastic. I'm very pleased to have them seen instead of feeling like I have to hide my washer and dryer from visitors who might enter the laundry room.
Although definitely not inexpensive, these machines are well worth the price considering the load of amazing features they utilize and the increased capacity of the washer and dryer drums. I'm very much looking forward to saving on our utility costs because of them! I would heartily recommend these beauties to my friends and family, and encourage anyone out there still on the fence to buy them with confidence!! I love them, and am confident if you read the manuals and use them properly you will too!!! =)

(More customer reviews)Excellent piece of machinery, build quality is top notch, unit is quiet as a church mouse. Most importantly, the cooling capability is restaurant quality. The two zones works incredibly well. Anyone who knocks this fridge because of ice production is in need of an Igloo, because this it produces boat loads of ice. Recovery time may not be super quick but name a fridge that.
FIrst Impressions:
1) cooling is excellent, cools evenly food lasts a long time.
2) Power Cool/Freeze feature is sheer genius. Froze my melted ice cream in less than an hour
3) Door Seal system is designed to last and function as it should
4) Freezer has loads of space, a little tricky to find stuff, but two tiers of storage help this quite a bit
5) Water tastes clean, clear, crisp and refreshing. Did a side by side taste test with Poland Spring, couldn't tell the difference
6) slow-to-bright LEDs are a wonderful feature, very slick
7) One of the full size shelves in the fridge is potentially useless
8) Wine bottle holder IS useless and so is the egg bin
9) EZ open handle on Freezer makes it effortless to open door, all others I tried required a good tug, which adversely effects seals.
10) Door alarm is very useful
