GENESIS EP-320 COPPER LP Review

GENESIS EP-320 COPPER LP

We have had the Weber EP 320 for about 3 weeks now and it is a dream. It is our fourth grill. The last two grills have been Weber's and they were our favorites. We were so thrilled with our last Weber (the Genesis Silver) and wanted to repeat the experience with a larger cooking surface.
Our old Weber never needed repairs but we are comforted by the fact that the Weber Grills are modular and you can inexpensively replace any needed part.
We have put our new grill through its paces these past few weeks cooking fish, pork, steak and vegetables. I used the side burner to heat the sauce. It holds the temperature beautifully, is easy to clean and easy to use. You won't regret buying this product.

I bought this grill 4th of July 2007. I have grilled on it at least 140 times. The regulator sprung a leak in April two days before my sons birthday when we were planning a cookout. I emailed Weber's customer service department with my dilemma and included my name and address. I didn't have my warranty number at the time because I had left the info at work. Weber tracked me down in their system by my name and address, email me back within an hour, and stated in the email that they had already shipped the replacement part overnight priority Fedex. It arrived 3 hours before the cookout. Fantastic grill and fantastic customer service. I will never buy anything but a Weber.

Weber 3851001 Genesis E-320 Natural Gas Grill, Black Review

Weber 3851001 Genesis E-320 Natural Gas Grill, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Weber Genesis 320 (with Copper finish) and it is great. All of the Weber Genesis grills get excellent ratings of about 4.5 to 5 stars on various Web sites. If you like grilling then this is the grill for you. My old Coleman was pretty sturdy but the bottom area of the stand rusted out after several years (we grill all year long - even in on bad winter days), and it had very uneven heating.

If you look at the various comments about these Genesis grills you will see that except for a couple very isolated and unusual situations people love them. Almost every owner agrees that they get hotter, hot quicker, are easier to use, and get excellent results more often than almost any other grill.

The stainless surfaces help prevent rust and last longer, and the outer surfaces cleanup well. Greased lightning works well to clean the grates & inner surfaces, and a little WD-40 or silicon spray rubbed on, helps keep the outer stainless surfaces looking good.

You can never trust the various propane gauges that are on the market (I tried them). This grill has a nice feature in that the propane tank actually sits on a little scale! Since the weight is a reliable measure of the tanks fullness, this works well.

Do yourself a big favor and buy excellent cuts of meat for your grilling experiences with this grill. (Like 1" to 1.5" T-Bone or Porterhouse.) Because it gets so hot (our's went to 550 in no time), this grill really shines with thicker, better cuts. Also it is a good idea to use a seasoning or a barbecue sauce (We like "[...] Rub" and "Mississippi Sauce" or "Baby Ray Original" sauce.

I haven't had too much experience with them, but Weber appears to be a great company for customer service, and warranty work (25 year warranty for some parts). I'm told that the beer can chicken cooker (costs only $[...] - & made by a different company) works great with this cooker (but I haven't tried mine yet.) You can also get vegetable pans.

The thermometer is very helpful for good grilling, and if you get a $[...] roast holder, you can even cook beef and other roasts in this grill. I think the actual grilling area is perfectly sized - you can keep the higher warming rack in the grill at all times, if you wish, because it doesn't get in the way like with some other grills. The three burners allow you to cook directly, or indirectly like in an oven, by turning one off.

There are 2 little disadvantages that these grills have. This model has the 3 control knobs on the right top which prevents you from using that side to put a plate (the "S" series has them in the front). And it has a grease dripping pan that some reviewers say will catch on fire when you get the grill real hot; so clean it often.

I think that about covers everything! This grill is so easy to use, you're going to really enjoy it. Weber provides good cooking tips, a small cookbook, and has an on-line free service where, if you sign up, they will send you different recipes every so often. Save a few bucks by buying any Weber accessories you might want from your local Home Depot, Sears, True Value, or Lowes store, instead of directly from Weber. And - Wait for FREE shipping.

Char Broil T480 Three-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill, with Sideburner Review

Char Broil T480 Three-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill, with Sideburner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I purchased the Char-Broil T480 3-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill I did so for several reasons: features, reliability and price. For me the Char-Broil had more of what was important than any other grill I looked at.
Assembly:
On a difficulty rating I'd give this a 7 and I've put together everything from Bikes to Ikea Furniture. Out of the box this didn't scare me, but it did take about 45-60 minutes from start to finish.
Use & Features:
It has an electronic ignition for all of the burners. My only complaint so far is that the button is rubber and dried up very quickly from the heat. Mine detached from the grill, but still works as long as it doesn't get lost.
The warming rack although a great idea, hasn't really been useful to us. Even though it's raised up on the back portion of the grill it takes up too much space and makes getting to what is grilling beneath it very difficult.
The side burner is great for heating up sauces, baked beans, making grilled onions or even frying bacon.
Temperature gauge on outer front is useful. I'm not sure of accuracy, but it has helped me pre-heat the grill when I do things like tri-tip or beer can chicken.
The two wheels on the bottom make it easy for me to maneuver around on our deck and also for storing.
Grilling:
I used to be a firm believer of grilling only with briquettes, but when you want to do it as often as we do it's just not possible. During the summer we use the grill about 2-4 times a week and during the winter we still use it at least once a week. I have become very comfortable with this grill, knowing how long to preheat, how long to cook and what works best. The 3 separate burners allow me to heat only the grates we need. Most often it's one for just a small dinner, but we have had all three going when cooking for a large crowd.
Clean-Up:
After cooking I give the grates and initial scraping with the Mr. Bar-B-Q Wide Grill Brush and then I usually turn the burners I had been using up to HIGH for about 60 seconds. This seems to burn off any excess food and keeps it ready to go for next time. As long as you take care of this grill you should be able to get many years of service and delicious food from it!
Storing: We purchased a cover for it since we do have it out year round (and in rainy Seattle no less). This Weber 7555 Premium Cover, although not meant for our grill, has been our favorite one. The quality of the materials and weight of it have kept ours clean and covered even through some pretty bad storms. We figured it we were investing the money in a grill; we should invest in this too.

Char-Broil AT405 4-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill Review

Char-Broil AT405 4-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am very satisfied with this grill. I am not what you call a "grill master," but I do like practical appliances that I can use easily. My husband and I, assembled this grill without too much trouble; however, there were some parts missing from the box. I think these parts were missing because the box had been opened and re-sealed at the retailer where I purchased the grill. Also, going over the parts list thoroughly before we assembled it would have been a good idea, but we just wanted to grill that night. Long story short-we were missing some vital parts. We went to a hardware store to see if they had the replacement parts and bought something to get us through the day (also Charbroil). The salesman at the hardware store told us to call Charbroil because if we were legitimately missing parts straight out of the box, he said Charbroil would replace them. He said their customer service was pretty good. Understatement of the year folks!!!
With the part we bought at the hardware store, the grill was functional and I was not even going to call their customer service. I called them because I was just going to bite the bullet and take responsibility for not checking my purchase more thoroughly-I could have also returned the incomplete grill to the store, but I did not want to do that because I had already invested time and effort in putting together "my" grill! I was going to pay for the parts which one can also order from their website.
Charbroil customer service registered my grill and told me they would send me the missing parts. I kept waiting for them to ask me for a credit card and tell me the final tally, but they never did. In this day and age that does not happen. I expected them to have me fax them my receit proof of purchase (which I do have), or put me through the ringer to prove I was just not asking for replacement parts to take advantage of their business. It seems they are logical and do not often expect people calling out of the blue for random specific "missing" parts.
It is so refreshing to be taken at my word. I called Wednesday and today is Friday and I have almost all the parts. They told me one would take a little longer (not vital part-it;it is a shelf) because it is on backorder. I thought, I'd get the parts in a couple of weeks. Certainly, I did not expect to get them two days later.
We are a military family and move often, so we often have to sell our grill (too hard to ship)and replace. I suppose we have been buying Charbroils because they are a good vaue; after this experience with their customer service, I don't think I will ever buy anything else.
What a great company!

Weber 3741001 Genesis E-310 Propane Gas Grill, Black Review

Weber 3741001 Genesis E-310 Propane Gas Grill, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There's really nothing more that can be said to further the reputation of this series of grills. Those of us that own the Genesis E-310 series grill know how well this grill is manufactured, and just how very well it performs its duties. It is, by far, the very best gas grill in this price range I have ever owned or used. A couple of notes:
-The cross-over ignition system works wonderfully (it takes less than 3 seconds to fire up all three burners
-Those who say that their gas grill does not get hot enough to sear meats don't own this grill- I've had it up to 550 degrees on a very cold MN winter day
-That said, it seems to go through a good amount of propane when running all 3 burners on high...but that is probably obvious considering the temps you can obtain when running it on full. (It will be interesting to see if I can get 500 + degrees to sear meats on medium setting on a summer day....). The fuel gauge inside the cabinet is also a handy feature
-As always with this series of grills- No Flare ups, and the flavorizer bars do what Weber says they will, namely vaporize fats and juices into smoke that adds flavor to what you are grilling
-To keep this review balanced, there is one negative- I dislike the tool holders. Although there are plenty, your tools pretty much have to have one of those leather hanging loop things to keep the tools from falling off or even to use the holders (a small price to pay I guess)
Finally, the Genesis E-310 I purchased came in a copper color, something I haven't seen on Amazon, or on Weber's site for that matter. Maybe I missed it, or maybe I got lucky. Either way, it looks pretty darn sharp on our deck when it isn't covered.

No more annual overhauls, Weber's Genesis grill is built for high-performance grilling for years to come. The Genesis E-310 gas grill features an enclosed cart with stainless steel doors and handles for easy, scratch-free cleaning. A stainless steel shroud with a center-mounted thermometer is bordered with shiny, cast-aluminum end caps.
The cooking system, rated at 42,000 Btu's, includes 3 seamless stainless steel burners. For easy starts, an electronic Crossover ignition system lights all three burners in succession with the push of a button. Weber's porcelain-enameled Flavorizer bars eliminate grease-fueled flare-ups that often occur with standard lava rocks and ceramic briquettes. Fats and juices are vaporized when they hit the angled bars and quickly sizzle away, adding delicious, smoky barbecue flavor rather than cauterizing flames. Sturdy cooking grates feature 7-millimeter stainless steel rods. The primary cooking area measures 507 square inches. And, the unit's handy warming rack measures 130 square inches for a total cooking area of 637 square inches.
Other features include 6 tool holders, a precision fuel gauge, 2 stainless steel work surfaces, 2 heavy-duty front locking casters and 2 heavy-duty back swivel casters. The purchase includes a cookbook and 10-foot flexible hose, and is covered by a limited manufacturer warranty.

Average Reviews:

I was so tempted to buy a similarly priced grill from [store] that had a whole bunch more features, but after spending some time in the grilling forums, I decided what I really needed was a basic grill that will last. After thinking about it, the 3 year old grill I was replacing basically deteriorated to the point of no return. I'd have to replace all of the components to keep it going. The old grill also did not provide even heat. After much research, I decided on the Ducane because it had good, long lasting parts and was made and backed by Weber. It is a basic grill and I'm glad I chose it. It heats up quickly and evenly and provides a nice, big surface to grill on. The side tables are also good sized. Assembly was simpler and easier, with fewer parts, than previous grills I have owned. And, even though it is made in China, the level of quality is noticebly high. There are no stainless steel surfaces, by the way, which may not be apparent in photos. The surface is a speckled gray paint, which, I believe is easier to keep clean. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of an apparent design issue that makes it sometimes difficult to light all the burners. You light each one individually with an electronic starter. When starting from a cold grill, I usually have no problem lighten one after another, but if you wait too long, or try to restart a hot grill, it is almost impossible to light using the electronic starter. Ducane/Weber apparently acknowledges this issue because inside the door is a tool used to hold matches to reach to a burner (the instructions cover this, too). Seems like they could have come up with a more reliable method, but I'll just have to live with it. By the way, I called Weber about this issue. I got through pretty quick and talked with a US based rep who had knowledge to share on the subject and immediately offered to send me a complete, new ignition system. Which I got but haven't installed. Nice of them, but then again, maybe just trying to avoid complaints. Overall, this is a solid, no frills grilling tool made with beefier parts and high quality materials that can handle a large load, has good heat adjustments and cooks pretty evenly across the entire surface. I am expecting it to last many years.
Follow up, 8/4/10: After using this numerous times I want to comment on how well it distributes heat evenly across the entire grilling area. This is a definite improvement over my previous grills and improves cooking capacity (being able to place food in the furthest corners) and time. I am also impressed with its ability to control the heat just right.

Ducane has been making notable grills for decades. A few years ago, the company was bought by Weber. For a mid-priced grill, this is the one to go with. Burners and grates are Weber standard. Outside, thinner steel and a few minor short-cuts bring the price point down, but still far superior to a Char-Broil or Brinkman class grill. Heat is even. Porcelain coated grates. For about $300 less, you get the heart of a Weber. And for those of you who hate cleaning stainless steel, another plus.

after careful research, we had been hoping to order this grill at a retail store but that did not happen so we were happy ordering from amazon. it came within a few days & we promptly set it up without much difficulty on our very small deck. the design is genius, perfect for our limited outdoor space. the major problem was that we could not get it to light. there was a full tank of gas, we called then emailed element but never got it to work. it sat outside, uncovered, for about a week & proceeded to rust around the perimeter of the cover after a rain storm! to say that we were disappointed is an understatement. a major design flaw is the gas tank cover has to be pulled off whenever the tank has to be turned on - they should have hinges & an ergonomic handle to open the cover for easy access to the gas source.
we carefully repackaged the grill - always save the box! - & thankfully received a full refund for this disappointing product. now it's back to our tired old weber until we find something small & fabulous that actually works!!

Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill Review

Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've done plenty of research and seen many grills before picking the 'Char-Griller Pro 3001'. I think if you really want a solid grill that lasts forever, get a Weber. For me paying $700+ for a similar Weber isn't an option. You also should beware of the inexpensive stainless steel grills (anything under $400). Their not stainless, the metal is thin & flimsy and they start showing signs of rust in a matter of months. I even saw some demos with rust stains?? This shouldn't be a problem with the finish on the Char-Griller. Plus I noticed it ranked well in Consumer Reports. I picked mine up at Menards for $149.00 (on 06/26/09).
At times it was challenging to put together. The pictures and directions could've been more descriptive on which way things face when you put them together (ie: the legs). Plus the location of parts within the box. I had to find parts that I needed early in the installation that were wrapped up with things late in the installation?! Once you get it together it's pretty solid. It starts easily and heats up fast. For me in less than 5-10 min. on high the temperature gage was at 650 degrees (on a windy 70 degree day in Chicago). The grates are porcelain coated cast iron. That's a feature you want to look for in a grill. You'll see those on higher priced models. The grates have a side for 'Searing' and a side for 'Grilling'. They cleanup easily and give GREAT grill marks. Now mind you my last grill was a 12 year old 'Char-Broil' that was shot and I've only used this one twice. But from what I can tell (so far) unless you want to pay a ton for something better this is a great grill for the price.
Update: 07-27-09
It's still a great grill for the price. I have one thing I never liked and if you're coming from an older grill like me you should be aware of this. Older gas grills (5 or 10 years) had the burners right along the bottom of the grill base with a metal shield over the top. You then had 5 inches or so between the shield and the grilling grates. This would give you space for 'Lava Rock', 'Ceramic Brickets' and some wood chips if you choose. The rocks or bricks would catch grease and reduce flare ups. To keep the grill clean you change the rock out once a season or so. NONE OF THE NEW GRILLS (including the Char-Griller) are setup like this. They ALL have the burners and shields right below the grilling grates. And you have no room for anything below the burners. So you need to be sure to keep the bottom of the grill CLEAN and CLEAR of debris (drip trays too). As I stated before this grill heats fast and puts out a good flame. Well after cooking about 10 times or so I had some debris and an oily film on the bottom from cooking & basting things. Yep you guessed it, FIRE, FIRE! Luckily I caught it after just a couple minutes of cooking and shut it down and put everything out. I cleaned out the bottom turned it back on and it was fine. So be safe and keep it clean!

This is by far the best grill we have ever purchased. It has become so much easier to prepare for direct or indirect heat for grilling. And the ease with which the grill ignites is fantastic. I initially thought that the grill was not lighting. We would get the ignition flame and when we released the knob to set the temp it seemed as though the flame was going out. The grill was on but it was a very sunny day and the flames were so blue they were hard to see. Love the weight gauge for the propane tank. No more guessing how much fuel is left. This is my "Bucket List" Grill.

Weber 3751001 Genesis E-320 Propane Gas Grill, Black Review

I've wanted a new grill for my lake cottage for several years. It had to be of high quality & also versatile because it is our primary cooking area during the summer months. It had to be large enough to handle a crowd yet easy enough to use for just the wife & myself. The cottage is on an island, so reliability was extremely important - I didn't need to be shacking about for parts or God forbid, returning the unit.
This piece is quality! Quality! Quality! It is a TANK! If this unit was a SUV - it would be a Hummer! The controls are easy to use & precise. The cooking is even with no chance of flare-ups. I have grilled, done a rotisserie, and even baked a jumbo chicken in it - it is a dream.
I was going to spend almost twice as much until my wife put in her 2 cents. I read the reviews and this unit consistently came up on the best of the best under $1500. I can not imagine what one would want or expect a grill to do that has a price tag of $2K? -- But they're out there. No, it isn't the biggest, but I cooked for over 25 people at an all day picnic and there were no issues. No it doesn't have a fancy radiant heater - who really needs that?
I am simply a frugal New England Yankee (and Red Sox fan!) that insists on getting my money's worth. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED if you choose this grill.

A must-have for summer entertaining, this propane-gas grill provides a 507-square-inch primary cooking area and a 130-square-inch warming rack for a total of 637 square inches of cooking space. The unit's three, main, stainless-steel burners and 42,800-BTU-per-hour input make it easy to cook-up everything from steaks, pork chops, chicken, and fish to veggie burgers, shish-kabobs, and slices of fresh pineapple. Its 12,000-BTU flush-mounted side burner works great for simmering a sauce to slather on later. The grill also supplies porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates that effectively retain heat and create delicious sear marks; porcelain-enameled Flavorizer bars to help ensure excellent results and reduced flare-ups; and an Electronic Crossover ignition system for ease of use. Beautifully designed, the gas grill features a porcelain-enameled shroud with a center-mounted thermometer and accent-colored painted cast-aluminum end caps; an accent-colored painted steel frame; and an enclosed cart with corresponding painted-steel doors, stainless-steel handles, and accent-colored painted side and rear panels. The enclosed cart houses the propane tank (not included), keeping it easily accessible but nicely hidden. Other highlights include two stainless-steel work areas, six tool holders, and four heavy-duty casters--two front locking and two back swivel--for smooth mobility. Not sure what to grill first? Weber throws in a handy cookbook for getting started. With the lid open, the gas grill measures 30 by 60 by 64-1/2 inches and carries a 2- to 25-year limited warranty on various parts.

Weber 3742001 Genesis E-310 Propane Grill, Copper Review

Weber 3742001 Genesis E-310 Propane Grill, Copper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Summary -- a great grill with even cooking across the grill, gets hot (over 600 deg F), with a bit of clunky charm and plenty of accessories.
OK -- I've had a very expensive grill (>$2k) for the past 5 years, and traded it for furniture when I moved. After researching grills, the great unwashed mass and periodicals indicated that Weber Grills had even temperatures across the grill. That was important because my former grill was hot, hot, hot but very uneven in temps across the grill. My only concern with the Weber was, "Is it hot enough?"
Quick Answer -- yes -- it climbed to 550 F fairly quickly and was still climbing. That was important because I want to grill Pizza.
Assembly - I hope you have your own hex set because the one supplied takes time. An auto screwdriver is a helpful addition. This is a 2 person bonding experience for assembly, at least for me, as I'm easily bored. The directions (pictures) are not bad but doesn't anyone write a manual using words in our native tongue? Assembly may take 1.5 hr +/- depending on your do it yourself talents.
First time use was steaks -- the grill is hot! and sears well -- they turned out perfectly - medium rare; Second time was chicken; next was scallops. They all turned out delicious and the grill is a snap to use.
I recommend the grill cover and adding the smokers kit if you want to slow cook ribs, chicken, etc. I laid a smoke box on the Weber twice and the grill produced fine smoke. I think the Weber kit will smoke the chips faster and hotter since it lays on the flavor grates.
The cons? OK -- it is clunky looking compared to my uber-expensive grill. But then, it was $649 (LP Version) and cooks better than Mr. Uber-Expensive.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this grill and highly recommend it.

Napoleon M485RSIB Mirage Propane Gas Grill with Infrared Rear and Side Burner Review

Napoleon M485RSIB Mirage Propane Gas Grill with Infrared Rear and Side Burner
Average Reviews:

This grill has been fantastic thus far. I have had it for about 3 months and no issues at this point.
First off I must say that the packaging is very thorough so there is little chance of any damages. I do recommend that you have at least one other person to help you lift the lid out of the box and onto the cart. I found that opening up all the parts and pieces made the grill come together in a reasonable amount of time. It took me between 30-45 minutes to put this huge grill together. I highly recommend that you use power socket wrench rather than your hand. I started with just a wrench and that slowed me down so use as many power tools as you can to speed up the process.
Once the grill was set up, I decided to light it up to burn off any oils that are on the metals. Later that night I tried my luck at Infrared Cooking. I am now sold on infrared cooking. I have tried the Charbroil Red grill at my brother-in-laws house and please be fully aware that the infrared that Charbroil is preaching is not true infrared cooking. The infrared side burner on this Napoleon Mirage is true infrared cooking. I turned the side burner on and within 30 seconds it was up to temperature. I believe it is 1500 degrees or so. I put my one inch thick steak on the grids for 30 seconds on each side and then moved it over to my regular burners. I then had it on that for another 3 minutes each side. I took them off the grill and saw that I cooked myself a perfectly made Medium Rare steak! It doesn't get better than that.
Since then I have cooked Pork Tenderloin, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn, veggies, potatoes, chicken, filet mignon and beer can chicken. I am hopefully going to buy a rotisserie kit soon so I can enjoy some chicken. If you love food as much as I do then you need to try true infrared cooking. It takes some time to learn as I have left somethings on a little too long. But this is the fun part of grilling. Trying new recipes and learning how to cook better each time.
I am so happy that I decided to get this grill because the grill is so evenly heated. I have cooked for a party of 20 and everything was finished around the same time. I highly recommend this grill. With a limited lifetime warranty I am not worried about having to buy a new grill in a few years. Napoleon has made themselves an excellent grill and I look forward to many years of cooking.

Don't let the pretty stainless steel on the outside fool you into thinking these things are weatherproof and long-lasting. The inside of mine (burners and grate) rusted out in a year. The worse thing here is that these parts have a 10 year warranty and Char-broil denied my case. I keep this grill covered and against my house when not in use. Very disappointed all around.

I've had the Q300 for about 10 weeks and grilled on it 3-4 times per week. Grilled steaks, roasts, chicken (both direct and indirect heat), pork
loins, hamburgers and hotdogs and the Q300 handled it all.
Gets hot fast:
From start with both burners on high...3 minutes grill is at 310 degrees....7 minutes 400 degrees.....10 minutes 520 degrees....14 minutes maxes out at 590 degrees
I like to cook chicken and pork over indirect heat, so I really like having the two burners with separate controls. The larger burner runs the perimeter of the grill and a second, smaller burner, goes down the center.
Outside burner only (High)..maintains 400 degrees,(Low)..300 degrees
Center burner only (High)..maintains 300 degrees,(Low)..200 degrees
Both burners on (High)..maintains 590 degrees, (Low)..500 degrees
