(More customer reviews)I've owned this style unit (single cord) for several years and really enjoy using it. It came with the proper cord and adapter so I can use other brand tips if I wish. The entire pen assembly disconnects instead of just the tip - I like this a lot! (A friend has the tip-only kind.) The cord is heavy duty. The unit heats up almost instantly and cools quickly. I've had no problems with it at all. Their selection of pens is good, but I usually end up only using 2 or 3 at most. I use it for gourd burning. The unit is fairly heavy, which means it doesn't move around on a table. We travel in an RV a lot; this just packs up in my traveling case with no problem.

This unit is a top quality wood burning unit that accepts ANY major brand of handpiece. The Burnmaster Hawk has a single port and pen rest, and it will heat in just seconds. You can use virtually any handpiece on the market, including the Detail Master and Razertip pens, as well as Colwood, Nibsburner, Navesink, and similar pens (not included). You supply the woodburning pens, and this unit brings everything else you need. Now you can choose the best shader, the best skew, the best spear, the best ball tip, even if they come from different manufacturers. Due to the unique overload protection, this unit will not burn out, even if you have a pen with a short in it. The Burnmaster has custom circuitry to detect abnormal conditions and trips a resettable breaker, thus preserving your unit. Another highlight is the smooth variable power supply, which adapts to various voltage levels with no special adjustments. Your pen will reach operating temperature in several seconds. This unit's circuitry was designed for woodburners and smoothly adjusts from low to the highest heat level. With 130 watts available, heat recovery seems instantaneous, and you have plenty of power in reserve for any future needs. The conversion cords (included) allow you to use pens with the smaller RCA jacks. The Burnmaster conversion cords and connectors are of heavy-duty construction, of course. (More customer reviews)Works well. I assume its reading is representative of the temperatures. Color is not too bright and offensive. Looks good on black stove. You sometimes have to tap it to get it to give current temperature as it occasionally gets a bit hung up on its way up. Not the end of the world.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these exclusively for grilling use. According to the other reviews, these are great for grilling. However, they must not have used this with cast iron on the grill. We have the lodge logic cast iron fajita plates that we use all the time. My husband tried to grab one of these off the grill using one of these mitts and the cast iron branded the leather and burned his hand immediately. So they may be good for regular grilling or the fireplace, I'm not sure, I just know that if you grill with cast iron or cook with cast iron...these are not for you.

(More customer reviews)OK, so this is only a thermometer so I won't write a long review, but I have to say that this little device helps me operate my wood stove better. It helps me know when I have the stove "overfired" or when I need to add more wood and turn up the oxygen. We've named the zones "Papa Bear" (too hot), Mama Bear (too cold) and Baby Bear (just right). Yeah . . . I know, but I have young kids.
