Besides that, they go with everything, are classic enough to be formal but modern enough to also go with simple place settings. You can see from the pictures. If you like the photos, you will like the silverware. I also like the fact that they have stainless steel knife blades so you can really use them. So, my review is that if you like the look, you will like the function.

Evoke a sense of antiquity with the Antique Baroque 54-piece flatware set from Wallace. Adorned with an engraved floral motif, blossoms encircles each utensil’s neck. Sculpted tendrils flow along the fork and spoon handles to underscore stylized piercings to the ornamentation. Gold plating completes the flatware’s beautiful appearance.
This set offers service for eight. Each placesetting consists of a hollow-handle 9-5/8-inch knife, a 8-inch dinner fork, a 7-inch dinner spoon, a 7-1/8-inch salad fork, and a 6-3/8-inch teaspoon. The set includes an additional eight salad forks for use during the dessert course, or for extra guests. For serving, the set also provides a six-piece hostess set with a 8-1/2-inch tablespoon, a 8-1/2-inch pierced tablespoon, a 8-7/8-inch cold meat fork, a 7-1/8-inch butter knife, a 6-3/8-inch sugar spoon, and a pie server. All pieces benefit from stainless-steel construction to ensure durability, while the electroplate gold adds luster. The dishwasher- safe flatware comes in a lacquered mahogany-colored wood chest for organized storage. The flatware set measures 11-1/4 by 3 by 17-3/4 inches and it weighs 12 pounds upon shipping.

Sturdy but simply gorgeous, very comfortable to handle. The shine is absolutely stunning even that is brushed stainless. Perfect ! But the description of the aditional pieces as a Serving Set is wrong: they are not a TABLESPOON and a COLD MEAT FORK, the extra pieces are a LARGE SERVE SPOON and LARGE SERVE FORK (same as two of the pieces of the Entertainment Set). Be aware when you get this set it comes with this two wonderful LARGE SERVE SPOON AND FORK, perfect for salads. I have to return the Entertainment Set i bought together with the 42 piece Set because the description of the 42pcs set was wrong about the extra pieces. But i highly recommend Yamazaki Hafnia 42 piece set, that also comes with the wood box, flawless. About the price: Amazon.com have the best deal. Thank you !

(More customer reviews)I received this as a wedding present and was stunned when I opened the box. The quality is amazing, the pieces are heavy and sturdy, and they already have a beautiful patina. I cannot wait to use this set when we have guests over as they are so nice they have to be shown! The pattern carries on throughout the handle and the actual spoon and fork part. The pattern wraps all the way around the utensils resulting in each piece being as beautiful on the back as it is on the front.
The set includes 12 place settings (salad fork, dinner fork, dessert fork, soup spoon, tea spoon, dessert spoon, butter knife) as well as a lovely hostess serving set (including 2 serving forks, 2 serving spoons, 2 slotted serving spoons, a small ladle and a large ladle).
The set also arrived with a simple wooden storage box that is nice for keeping the set safe when not in use. I did however notice that the seller of this product here has changed since I received this set, so the new seller may not include the storage box.

Which meant the minimal place settings (fork, spoon, knife) had to be hand-washed, dried, polished, and laid back in their special case after each evening meal. And of course, on holidays, the entire contents of the silverware case was let out, serving pieces and all, polished, washed and dried, and complete place settings put upon the table - by me and my younger brother (yes!) and sister. For whatever else true silverware might be worth, that family participation was well worth it. I learned to treasure every piece.
With this pattern you cannot go wrong. It's elegant, simple, easy to use and maintain, but at the same time gives you that connection with history. It works with just about any table setting that's not just unabashedly casual. jenna

I really liked how the knives match the set - they look just like the butter knives with a sharp edge. So it goes perfectly with the set. Can be used for casual or formal dinnerware.

It's incredibly functional as it is dishwasher safe and good for everyday use and yet can easily be used for formal dining as well. The only downside is that the pattern has been retired and is virtually impossible to get, although it's well worth the hunt and cost!

Since then, the more I use the flatware, the more I realize how high maintenance it really is. So many things leave stains.....even water and lemons. It must be washed and dried immediately after using.
