All the scents are strong out of the box, yet when burnt are delicate & not at all overwhelming. Beautifully packaged, arrived very quickly, shipping is reasonable & prices cannot be beat! This gift was it, the candle itself looks exactly like Hershey's syrup, and the tin it comes in made me do a double take to make sure i didn't get gipped for some regular Hershey syrup. (More customer reviews)I debated about buying this candle for a long time. Its ad copy on the Douglas Little/Modern Alchemy website intrigued, in fact all of their products/scents are intriguing. Their website is fantastic, as is the selection. The quality of the candles, their wax and wicks, is praised sky high, so I finally gave in and bought one. The scent was amazing when I opened the box; the candle beautiful in its sapphire blue glass container - it even comes with a pull-out brochure of the other unique scents in the line that was great to look at. Problem is, that's basically all the candle's good for - looking at...and sniffing from time to time. The candle's burn is horrible. It smokes incessantly, even when the wick is cut down to the recommended quarter of an inch or below. The scent does not even come close to filling even the small office I have it in, to get a good whiff you need to stand right over the thing. And when you blow the thing out, it has an awful metallic/burnt match odor that lingers longer than the candle promised scent. The beautiful sapphire-coloured glass is not blue glass at all, but clear glass coated on the inside with some sort of blue plastic film that scratches off at the slightest touch leaving patches of clear glass highly visible when the candle's burning. All in all, don't give into the hype - the candle's way too expensive, as I found out the hard way. My recommendations for scented candles - stick with Voluspa, best scented candles I've ever bought, or for something luxurious but well worth the high price, get one of the Parisian Diptyque's Feu de Bois candles - magnificent! But please stay away from DL & Company and Modern Alchemy.

(More customer reviews)The candle is a very good candle if you follow the directions. The wick has to be trimmed and burned for hours so it will burn even. If it does not burn even, it will eventually just be a pain to light. It is a very good smelling candle, my wife loves them. Dont worry about the crackling sound, can't really hear it. It makes the house smell good, guess that's the point.

The tin does get very hot after you have been burning for a long time or the candle is low, so need to be careful, but other than that I absolutely love these candles and have ordered them multiple times in different varieties.

(More customer reviews)I've always loved patchouli... but wasn't sure about frankincense. I bought this because I liked the idea of a natural, toxin-free candle with my favorite patchouli scent. I had it sitting in my home office for the longest time before I finally lit it up today. All I can say is... nirvana. It has an incredible smell and is very relaxing. (Not exactly conducive to working, but takes away any work stress and anxiety!) My only complaint is that it's smaller than I thought it was. The candle itself is probably only about 2 inches in diameter. I know it lasts a pretty long time, but I wish it was offered in a larger size. I'd get one for every room in the house! As it is, a candle this size is probably just right for my smallish office when I have the doors closed. I think the aroma would get lost in our living room or other larger rooms because the candle is not quite large enough.

This candle however does not! I have been burning this candle a lot for the last few weeks and it has the other ones beat! The wonderful scent has stayed the same since I bought it and it seems like I've barely used it because its lasted so long!! I'm very happy with this product and will buy in the future. I can't wait to try out the other scents!!

Ylang Ylang smells very much like lavender, but not as strong. It is very calming and relaxing, very good for the evening.
