(More customer reviews)I debated about buying this candle for a long time. Its ad copy on the Douglas Little/Modern Alchemy website intrigued, in fact all of their products/scents are intriguing. Their website is fantastic, as is the selection. The quality of the candles, their wax and wicks, is praised sky high, so I finally gave in and bought one. The scent was amazing when I opened the box; the candle beautiful in its sapphire blue glass container - it even comes with a pull-out brochure of the other unique scents in the line that was great to look at. Problem is, that's basically all the candle's good for - looking at...and sniffing from time to time. The candle's burn is horrible. It smokes incessantly, even when the wick is cut down to the recommended quarter of an inch or below. The scent does not even come close to filling even the small office I have it in, to get a good whiff you need to stand right over the thing. And when you blow the thing out, it has an awful metallic/burnt match odor that lingers longer than the candle promised scent. The beautiful sapphire-coloured glass is not blue glass at all, but clear glass coated on the inside with some sort of blue plastic film that scratches off at the slightest touch leaving patches of clear glass highly visible when the candle's burning. All in all, don't give into the hype - the candle's way too expensive, as I found out the hard way. My recommendations for scented candles - stick with Voluspa, best scented candles I've ever bought, or for something luxurious but well worth the high price, get one of the Parisian Diptyque's Feu de Bois candles - magnificent! But please stay away from DL & Company and Modern Alchemy.
