This is my first ever online product review but I am so impressed with this product I want to share my positive experience with others.
Having owned cheaper toaster ovens over the years, I was always disappointed with the product quality, reliability and performance. While they all did an OK job of toasting a bagel or reheating a slice of pizza their use was limited, poorly constructed, flimsy and lacking features.
This time I was determined to purchase a quality high end, well constructed unit that not only offered more features but superior performance.
After much research on the web, reading customer/product reviews and doing in-store comparisions between various toaster ovens, I narrowed it down between the Krups FBC2 or FBC4 and the Cuisinart TOB-175C convection taster oven. In the end I decided to purchase and try out the Krups FBC2 toaster oven for the following reasons:
1 - The overall design, sleek appearance and most importantly, solid high quality contruction. Just compare product weight. The Krups appears to be more solid and better built, which may account for its added weight.
2 - The illuminated LCD digital controls are very intuitive and easy to use. The temperature adjusts in 25 degree increments proving to be a very fast and convenient feature. While some people might prefer 1 degree adjustments, I don't miss not being able to set it to odd settings such as 314 or 438 degress. 275, 300, 325, 350, 400, 425, 450 etc work fine for me.
3 - The offset grille provides more heating positions for more accurate heating and cooking.
4 - Even with its compact design, it has a slightly larger interior cooking area.
5 - Last and definately not least, I read only positive reviews about the quartz convection heating eliments, and having now used it, I can see why. This oven seems like it heats up almost instantanously with nice and even heat distribution. What an incredible improvement over the much cheaper units I have owned in the past.
I was so impressed with the Krups KBC2 toaster oven, I decided to return it and purchase the more expensive FBC4 model from Amazon because it offered even more features. Believe me, I am not disappointed. While the Krups FBC2 is an equally excellent product, the FBC4 also has:
1 - A stainless steel exterior finish which I really like because of its quality, appearance and durability, especially after reading reviews indicating there were issues with the Cuisinart exterior finish flaking.
2 - The convection oven feature significantly reduces cooking/reheating time.
3 - It has a Bagel toasting setting not available on the FB2 where it toasts bagels on the sliced side while only heating up the crust side. Like other units on the market, the FB2 toasts both sides. While this does a decent job of toasting bagels, the FB4 Bagel toasting feature results in a perfectly toasted bagel every time.
4 - While I have not yet used the defrost feature, I am looking forward to using it since I am not a big fan of microwaves.
In conclusion, I could not be happier with my decision to purchase a Krups toaster oven. The FB4 has definately exceeded my expectations and I look forward to using it for many years to come.

Attractively designed in chrome with black accents, this six-slice toaster oven offers a large 0.59 cubic-foot capacity and convection baking, which circulates heated air around food for faster, more even cooking. Its patented quartz cycling technology alternates 1600 watts of power to each set of 3-quartz heating elements (one above and one below) to produce maximum radiant heat. In addition, the unit's highly polished stainless-steel reflective crumb tray directs heat to all interior corners for optimal results.
Ultra-precise temperature controls in 25-degree increments range from 150- to 450-degrees F, and for simple one-step cooking, the toaster oven provides six preset cooking functions--pastry, bagels, brownies, cookies, thick pizza, and thin pizza. The unit's defrost function uses the convection fan only to gently and evenly defrost food without producing hot spots. For toasting, it has nine levels as well as browning with a countdown timer.
Other useful details include an illuminated LCD control panel with easy-to-use controls and high-quality soft-touch buttons, a digital clock that displays when the cooking functions are not in use, and a 90-minute digital timer with auto shut-off after elapsed time. Accessories include a non-stick bake pan, broil tray, and thermal-resistant tongs for safe removal of hot pans or food. The durable, non-stick interior cleans up in a snap, and two rack positions offer added versatility. The toaster oven measures 20-1/2 by 14-3/4 by 10-3/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Dualit 4-Slice Toaster, Canary Yellow Review

After much research and thinking, I finally purchased this toaster, believing it would be the best and last toaster I would ever have to buy. It is truly the best toaster I've ever had, and I've had them all! There are some slight drawbacks that I must mention, however:
The two slots on the left sometimes toast more lightly than the right-hand slots, and the toasting can be uneven from top to bottom in all the slots. This toaster takes longer than other brands to do its job, requiring a little "warm-up" time after it has cooled a bit. Also, the slots are not quite wide enough for some breads, such as half-sliced bagels. I honestly don't see how two slices of bread could fit into the optional sandwich basket that is designed to slide into a slot on this toaster.
There are some great features, too: The crumb tray actually catches all the crumbs and is easy to slide out to empty. The toast does not pop up, as in other brands, thereby staying warm for a few minutes until I can get to it. It has a simple numbered dial--the numbers correspond to minutes--and during the toasting time, the toaster ticks--like an old-fashioned kitchen timer. There is no "ready" sound, such as a ding, but the ticking stops with a loud click when the time is up. Also, there is never a time when this toaster is too hot to toast another batch of bread. In fact, it works better when it is still hot.
The design is attractive and would look nice left out on the counter. I keep mine in a cupboard, however, and it is no trouble to get it out every morning and put it back after breakfast. (This is how I've always stored my toasters.) I purchased the yellow, 4-slice model, and it is very pretty. The yellow looks good with my wood cabinets and goes well with everything in my kitchen.
I believe this toaster will never, ever wear out. It is heavy, well-built, and well-designed, inside and out. And, it does toast better than all the other toasters I have owned in the past.

Emerson Stainless Steel Toaster Oven Review

This appliance reminds me of why it's never a good idea to save $20 and go for the cheaper one.
Let me start by saying that it is very short, leaving no room to reach your hand in to do anything without burning yourself. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, with a removable tray, but this tray will not budge. The entire thing heats up to an untouchable temperature on the OUTSIDE, so don't even think of trying to pull out that tray for at least half an hour. It toasts very unevenly, turns a bright pulsing orange inside which is just weird, and to top it all of the door is now not shutting tightly.
It receives an extra star for working and not bursting into flames... yet.

Pros: large glass door and glass top to view cooking in progress, side handles make transporting easy, preheat takes 9 minutes or less, two inch thick vented sides cool oven quickly after cooking, has three setting knobs: timer, temperature gauge, and broil/toast/warm/bake (a real treat for anyone who has been mistreated by malfunctioning, expensive electronic sensor pads and boards on other appliances). It comes with 2-piece broiler tray, cookie sheet and reversible rack that adds additional rack setting choices. Rounded back fits 12" pizzas. This rescued me on Thanksgiving when my big oven broke. I made a perfect green bean casserole inside while warming rolls in glass cookware I placed on a rack on top. I've owned it less than a month, and, because of Thanksgiving, I can't wait to find out what else it can do well!
Cons: because it's a toaster oven, heating elements are closer to food than in a large conventional oven and you have to monitor carefully to prevent overcooking, (but that's true of all toaster ovens and well-placed glass on this model makes monitoring easy). I love this oven!

I was pretty frightened to try this toaster, but I had one several years ago and after trying a much more expensive model that took at least 10 minutes to toast bread, I decided to try it, despite all the bad reviews. And for $40, what more do you want? The oven does indeed turn off when the bell rings and can toast frozen bread in about 5 minutes, slower than a regular toaster, but much faster than the high end countertop oven that I tried. I waited about a month to write this review, because I was expecting to see flames coming from the unit, but so far it's been fine. I've used this to reheat pork chops and steak and it has worked quite well and I really like the hooks that pull the rack out about an inch when the door is opened.

Other thoughtful details include an indicator light, a signal bell at the end of the toasting cycle, and a swing-open crumb tray for easy disposal and cleaning. The Jesus Toaster Review

The Jesus Toaster

This toaster is NOT just a gag gift. It is a working toaster which just happens to imprint a stylized picture of Jesus. There are instructions enclosed with it recommending to cycle it without toast initially, I suppose to get rid of funny odors from manufacture. Also one should plan on having to cycle and adjust it a couple of times with their toast before they get the color right, as with any toaster. The primary control is an analog dial and I ignore the buttons. (I have no idea why manufacturers insist on complicating common-use appliances with lots of buttons.)
I'd love it if they would also make them for world religious figures, particularly The Buddha, and members of the Hindu pantheon, but realize there's probably not so much of a market for such icons in the US. There might however be markets for other figures such as Einstein or Elvis, so the makers should consider them. They already make a peace symbol toaster and a marijuana leaf symbol toaster but those just don't have the appeal of the Jesus toaster.
