MIU Silicone Pot Holders, Set of Two, Blue Review

MIU Silicone Pot Holders, Set of Two, Blue

I bought a set of these so that i could toss my cloth "mit" type potholders that were getting badly stained, and somewhat natty after washing. Although i agree with the other reviewer that there are many uses for this product, such as being good trivets, the items just don't really cut it as potholders. trying to bend the squares in half to take a pot out of the oven is just asking for trouble, because they don't easily fold over evenly, and actually heat up after holding items with very high temperatures for about 10 seconds. also, you can burn the tops of your hands on top oven racks if you reach into the oven and you're not careful. i love the silicon cooking utensils and thought i'd love these too, but no....i find i'm still using the nasty looking oven mits i have, and I have not really been able to throw them out, unfortunately. i also find the potholders somewhat difficult to use with pans on the stove- they are just not very comfortable to hold.

These 7" squares of heat-resistant silicone are flexible enough to be used as pot holders and sturdy enough to serve as trivets. In sets of two. Dishwasher safe.

Built Arlo Oven Mitt Review

Built Arlo Oven Mitt

I purchased two sets (oven mitt and pot holder) for my mother and significant other to replace their existing (cheap and worn) mitts. They both loved the ergonomics and appearance/styling of the neoprene and it fit their hands well. However, the matching pot holder is designed for medium to large female hands and did not fit my significant other's small hands well (tends to slide out of her hand).
I would give the oven mitt 5 stars, but the neoprene is NOT stable at 450+F (description says "up to 500F"). After regularly using the mitt for over a month, my significant other recently grabbed a cookie sheet in our [calibrated] oven at 450F and it slightly melted the neoprene side of the mitt. My recommendation is to avoid touching 400+F pans/sheets to the neoprene and only contact the rubber grip, which is 500F safe.

Built Neoprene Sizzler Extra-Long Oven Mitt Review

I do most of the BBQ-ing in our family - which goes far beyond the hotdog and hamburger thing. I cook everything on the grill in the summer,, and looked online at lots of BBQ mitts, for something that would be flexible enough to grab veggie baskets, fish baskets, tongs, spatulas - all the tools I use, AND keep my hands/arms up to my elbows protected from the heat. These are perfect - like any mitts thought, if the pot is hot enough you WILL be able to feel the heat a little through them, but I find that they work great - and the multi-dot pattern is very fun...

This product is well made with the rubber and stitching but i found it hard to actually use in the oven or to old cookie sheet without hitting a cookie on the edge. It is a little too bulky and big and very heavy. Sometimes it's easier to use a cloth potholder. Also not ergonomic to get on your hand.
