(More customer reviews)Our popper has exceeded our expectations. It pops faster than is stated, and the eight ounce servings can be cranked out fast to cater to a large crowd. Oil is steaming in about 90 seconds and about three minutes later the corn is popped. Very fast and just what we needed. Considering the mess popcorn oil makes, it cleans up relatively easily by just wiping it with warm dish cloth and paper towels. A bonus is that kids and adults light up when they see it and all have said the popcorn tastes great. So far we have only used the pre-measured corn and oil as I bought a case and we haven't finished all of that yet. But it looks like measuring out your own corn/oil will work just as well. Finally, someone at the local hardware store has a similar commercial grade popper they use to give customers free popcorn. One day I was there and they had caramel corn. I mentioned to the owner that I had just bought a popper and he gave us a Gold Meadow caramel corn packet to try. I had no idea this could make caramel corn but it does. It's messy, but hey, it's caramel corn.
Updated: In case you were wondering, this is the Gold Medal glaze that the gentleman at the hardware store gave me to try: Gold Medal Prod. 2534 Caramel Glaze Pop . You may have to search elsewhere to find it in smaller quantities. I have not tried it but this product Caramel Corn Popcorn Flavoring is available on Amazon in smaller quantities and appears that it would work in this popper as well since the instructions are the same as the Gold Medal product and it glazes the corn while popping. Onother product that will work in this popper is 24-7.4 oz. Caramel Snap Pak - Caramel Glaze, Yellow Popcorn, White Coconut Oil , which contains the corn, oil and glaze all together. There are also dozens of caramel seasonings and glazes available that you can add after the corn is popped, but the glaze while cooking method is probably better than most of those.
