(More customer reviews)Overall this product has met my expectations. It is well constructed and ergonomically sound. It works quite well at destroying small emerging weeds on bare ground, gravel and in between bricks. For larger weeds I find pulling is still a better option than the torch. The product is less effective when used in or around flammable ground cover or tender vegetation because of the resulting collateral damage.
If you are comparing the torch against the ease and effectiveness of chemical weeding products (Ortho Weed be Gone, etc.) you will be disappointed in this product's relative performance. If you are comparing this product to other "organic" weeding methods (pulling, high concentration vinegar, etc) you will be satisfied with the relative performance.

(More customer reviews)this is not a flame thrower in the military sense, it is a "garden flame thrower" for weed control, and would make a poor weapon . it has a range of about 8 inches, and is very heavy & clunky. it does, however, allow one to clear weeds quickly. i have a large area covered in gravel, and my flame thrower takes care of the spring weeds with less environmental cost than herbicides. BUT DO NOT USE DURING FIRE SEASON!

(More customer reviews)This is a affordable weed burner, not as nice as an infrared burner, but at less than half the cost, it is a great deal. It is not necessary to burn the weed, just heat it till the color of the leaves change, wait a few days and the weed will be dead. It works better if the ground is wet and the weed is turgid (full of water). Plus it is fun to watch them die and a lot healthier that spaying chemicals everywhere.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product (Red Dragon VT 3-30 SVC 500,000BTU) to melt snow, but it doesn't work for that. It claims to put out 500,000 BTUs, but a large grill is only about 75,000 and puts out at least this much. I expected to be able to melt significant snow, but have a typical propane tank empty in an hour. After an hour, I had gotten no where and the tank still felt full. I checked all the usual things such as that the valve on the tank and unit were fully opened, there was no obstruction in the hose, etc. It definately does not put out anywhere near 500,000 BTUs.
Don't buy this as a snow melter, but it would be great for toasting marshmellows.

(More customer reviews)Disappointed, I ordered a new valve and was sent a used valve. Though is appeared to be priced less than a new valve and functions it is not what I ordered. Additionally Sears sells not only a valve but also the propane torch and handle as a kit for considerable less than the recommended "package" on Amazon. Returning the package to Amazon would have incurred restocking charges that made it about an equal deal. Recommendation check Sears first.

(More customer reviews)I have had my Weed Dragon for a couple of weeks. I've used it on a gravel driveway infested by a variety of tough weeds. In past years, weeds have covered half the driveway surface by mid-June. I have used the Weed Dragon on this driveway twice. Most of the unwanted weeds and grass on the driveway are dead. The few survivors will receive another treatment to kill them. Once the weeds are all gone, I will put fresh gravel on the driveway, confident that, if more weeds emerge, I can kill them quickly with the Weed Dragon. I have the model with the squeeze trigger, which works fine. I find that keeping the nozzle and flame about a foot above the weed tops works the best. One caution: keep a garden hose or fire extinguisher close by when using the Weed Dragon--grass, twigs and needles will catch fire if you're not careful. A general-purpose hand truck with pneumatic tires works well for moving the 20-pound LP canister around as I work with the tool. Overall, I am quite pleased with the Weed Dragon.

(More customer reviews)I bought this thing while I was camping. Our firewood was a bit damp and I was having trouble getting the campfire started. With this handy-dandy roaster, I had a bonfire within a minute or so. Then, I decided to use it on the weeds at home. The instructions warn against using the torch near conifers (like Evergreen-type shrubs, bushes, topiaries), so I stayed about 5 feet away from those. Well, this thing is hotter than the blazes of Hell and Damnation itself! I roasted a few of my bushes, but thankfully, they've started to come back. We just had a few inches of snow here in Chicago and I drove over it in the driveway. I ended up with icy patches of packed snow and figured I'd pull out Satan's air conditioner. Not only did it melt those ice patches faster than a hooker drops her panties, it melted a five foot section of snow (about 3 inches deep) in front of the nozzle. Well, after that, I just had to screw around with it. I cooked a frozen hot-dog in less than 30 seconds. OK, "cooked" is the wrong word. I turned a frozen hot dog into a pile of ash. Since that was fun, I tried it with an old cell-phone I had laying around. It stunk, but man it was cool to watch it turn into a gelatinous pile of stink. Someone else mentioned having to roast your weeds and then come back to weed by hand a week later. That's totally unnecessary. Just hold the flame on the weed for about 10 seconds and it'll kill it, burn it, turn it to ash, and then burn the ash into smaller ash. The roots will be dead and the weed will never return. OK, maybe it will, but I roasted a section of stone in my backyard that had weeds growing up. It's been nearly 2 years and nothing has grown there. Yeah, it sounds like a jet engine when you fire it up, but it's awesome! I highly recommend this for weed burning, camp fire starting, party tricks, and hot dog cremation. And next week, I'm going to head over to my mean, old, crotchety neighbor's house in the middle of the night and burn "A-Hole" into his lawn. Man, I can't wait till my kid's hamster bites the dust!

(More customer reviews)I just got my Weed Dragon yesterday, so I can't verify if the weeds will really die in a week like they say...but I will say that it was WAY easier to use than I thought it would be. The small propane tanks were less than $3 at Wal-Mart and Home Depot. It came pre-assembled so all I had to do was screw on the propane tank. The weeds wilted immediatley, JUST LIKE IN THE VIDEO ON THEIR WEBSITE. I couldn't believe it. It's almost too good to be true. I'm a 5' tall 30 year old woman and if I can use it, you can too. The size of the mini torch was just right for around my tomato and basil plants, and for around my lemon tree. It was really easy to hit the plants I wanted to...and avoid the good plants. I even used it along my fence line and it wilted the weeds without burning my fence. Love it. Love it. Love it.
