All-American 41-1/2-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner Review

First off, Very fast shipping. Ordered on Saturday and recieved on Tuesday. We do a fair bit of canning. About 200+ pints/quarts per year. This canner is an absolute piece of craftsmanship. Very heavy and well built with an impeccable finish. The wire racks could use a few more rings for smaller pints and half pints but it is not a major issue. Great capacity which will make our canning much faster and easier. The heavy cast aluminum makes maintaining an even temperature very easy and I find I can use less gas to maintain the desired pressure compared to our old pressure canner. Very accurate weight and gauge makes getting the proper pressure a breeze. If properly cared for and maintained I can see this canner lasting generations. Expensive but definitely worth it for the serious home canner. Recommend highly.

The high heat generated by a pressure cooker can kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath, making this pressure cooker the ideal tool for canning vegetables and non-acid fruit. All-American's 41-1/2-quart pressure cooker/canner holds up to 32 pint jars or 19 quart jars, and includes two wire canning racks. Only All-American pressure cookers/canners feature an exclusive, precision-machined "metal-to-metal" sealing system. Clamping locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal. This means no gaskets to crack, burn, replace, and clean. At the same time, the metal-to-metal seal permits venting under unusual pressure conditions, making the seal safer than conventional rubber or composition gasket cookers.
Crafted of the finest hand-cast aluminum, this durable cooker/canner features a stay-cool Bakelite top handle, geared steam gauge, automatic overpressure release, and pressure regulator weight with settings of 5 psi, 10 psi, and 15 psi. The attractive satin finish is smooth and easy to clean. Double thick edges provide added protection on points of heaviest wear. The total measurements are 19 inches high with a 15-1/4-inch inside diameter. All-American pressure cookers are made in the USA. This cooker/canner is not suitable for glass or flat top ranges.

This is a top quality product built for serious home canning. The quality is apparent at a glance. It's an intimidating machine at first, but it's actually simple, safe and robust if you follow instructions. READ THE SAFETY RULES on the first page of the manual and follow them to the letter! The instruction booklet is comprehensive and easy to follow. This is an adult piece of equipment...made for responsible adults. If you don't follow the safety rules, you will damage or destroy your pressure cooker, and you may get hurt doing it.
The only part of this machine that requires regular replacement is the safety plug. The manufacturer recommends replacing the plug every year or two before you start the season's canning. Also, the seal must be lubricated after every few runs with petroleum jelly. Other than that, you shouldn't need to buy any gaskets or parts to keep it running forever.
This model can handle 19 pint jars or 7 quart jars or 4+ gallons of food for your next cookout and it's built to last a lifetime. If you are going to do any serious canning, don't waste your money on an inferior tool. This is a great choice.

Frigidaire Professional Series FPCC3685KS 36 Induction Hybrid Cooktop - Stainless Steel Review

Frigidaire Professional Series FPCC3685KS 36 Induction Hybrid Cooktop - Stainless Steel

This delivered what I expected: all the benefits of induction cooking at a reasonable price with backward compatibility.
This induction cooktop is very powerful. In my tests, two cups of water were boiled in 90 seconds. This beats any non-induction cooktop I have ever seen including the fancy gas ones. Also, it can produce more bubbles than any other cooktop.
But it's not just powerful, the heat was very even as seen in the boiling pattern of a frying pan.
Some might prefer to pay more to have all burners be induction. I think the two induction burners are enough for high heat and the 3 electric burners will be useful for keeping other pots warm as well as any non-induction compatible cookware I have.
I use IKEA's 365 series cookware with this cooktop and it works very well.

Coleman 425F499G 2 Burner Compact Gas Stove Review

Coleman 425F499G 2 Burner Compact Gas Stove

I have had my Coleman compact stove for 29 years. I use it for two to three trips a year and use it every day of each trip (usually 9 or 10 days per trip) to cook big meals on. It is EXACTLY the same as the new model. It has never needed a repair. I just clean it after each camping trip. Coleman fuel is inexpensive and easily found in any part of the US and a gallon of fuel lasts me practically two years. The stove fits perfectly inside a 16 gal rubbermaid container with all of my other cooking gear (including pans). I absolutely recomend this stove. You don't need one of those fancy complicated other stoves. The basic Coleman stove is a workhorse that doesn't break down.

Enjoy a consistent cooking performance when camping under the stars with the Coleman two-burner gas stove. Equipped with one 11,500 BTU burner and one 9,500 BTU burner, the stove can whip up a meal in minutes, so you can easily boil water, heat up soup, or cook flapjacks while at the campsite. The stove also cooks for hours at a stretch, with a single 2.5-pint Coleman fuel providing up to 7.5 hours of burn time on the low setting. All this in a compact housing that measures 17.75 by 4.875 by 11.5 inches (W x H x D).
About Coleman More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Granite Ware 50 Quart Stock Pot, Black Review

Granite Ware 50 Quart Stock Pot, Black

Of course I had no idea what I was doing when I ordered a 50 quart pot sight unseen. This washtub sized pot just barely fits on the spare center burner on my 40" stove IF I move everything else off of it. That said, it has been really useful for large amounts of gumbo I cook for a homeless shelter, or just for mixing salad for 50 people. Today I am making a 3 chicken (it could easily have handled 4) stock in it, probably a year's worth of stock for the freezer!

This 50 quart size is great for seafood boils, and serving large groups. Porcelain enamel is the result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a durable vitreous coating on a carbon steel core. It creates a smooth, hard finish that won\'t burn and resists staining. It\'s also non -porous so it won\'t trap odors or food particles and provides a low coefficient of friction – meaning that it cleans up easily and, it is corrosion and chemically resistant so it will last a long time. This makes an ideal material for large pots as the glass-like surface is inert and does not interact with or alter the taste of food. The steel core is an excellent heat conductor, requiring less time and energy. No PFOA's or any other chemicals are used that may affect food taste, color or healthfulness. When fired, the vessel is placed on pins so the bottom and sides are hardened during the firing process into one smooth laminated glass surface. You may notice slight pin indentations where the glass has flowed around the pin that supports the base during firing. The pin marks do not compromise the finish or performance of the vessel in any way but you should take additional care in handling if using on glass top stove.
