(More customer reviews)Well I dont actually have this fondue pot but I fealt I must clear the air on fondue pot usage.
The fondue pot is stainless steel. Stainless steel fondue pots are for oil based fondue. If you wish to make chocolate or cheese fondue you need to use a ceramic insert or cheese/chocolate specific fondue pots. Hoffritz along with other companies offer them.
So the above reviews about burnt cheese and chocolate well thats expected from a stainless steel fondue pot regardless of the brand. Now if the instructions or the product claim its usage is for cheese and chocolate well thats a different story.
Excluding recipe guide of course because those recipe guides are generic.

Swissmar Swiss Fire Gel - 3 Can Pack Review

(More customer reviews)When I bought my fondue set in Switzerland many years ago it came with Swissmar Fire Gel. I have tried other brands over the years and have come back to use the Swissmar brand. It has the right amount of heat and burn time for a fondue dinner.
Maybe the previous rater was using it for something else?
