(More customer reviews)Anyone serious about Cooking should have at least one cast iron pot and Le Creuset is the best quality available today. The 7 quart pot is perfect for anything which requires long slow cooking either on the stovetop or in the oven: stews, baked beans, pasta fagioli, paella, cassoulet, soups, etc., etc. An iron pot takes longer to heat up than say stainless steel or aluminum but it holds heat longer than either. I have even used my Le Crueset on the BBQ to bake a cake or make cornbread so as not to heat up the kitchen in the summer. In fact, this past summer when the electricity went out, I even made all the components of Lasagna Bolognese as well as baking it complete in my Le Crueset on the BBQ. It was round, shaped like a cake but it was delicious. I've had one of my Le Creusets for over 10 years (that calculates to 91 more years on the 101 years warranty!) with no sign of any obvious wear mainly because I have taken care when using it: wooden instead of metal spoons or spatulas and using non-abrasive cleansers on the interior.

(More customer reviews)I love this frozen dessert maker. I have used it at least once every night since it arrived 2 weeks ago. It's so simple to make a delicious frozen dessert with this machine, just mix up your ingredients (or you can just turn on the "churn" switch and have this machine mix it) and pour it in. 30-40 minutes later your dessert will be frozen to perfection.
The machine has a 60 minute timer which acts as a master on/off and two buttons, one to "churn" (mix) and the other to "chill". I often start it just before we begin our meal so we'll have a freshly made dessert when we're done.
This machine does an excellent job of making frozen desserts. We've made perfect fresh lime, cantaloupe and blueberry sorbets as well as delicious smooth and creamy ice creams like Mocha, Chocolate and Honeydew Melon. Because this machine is so easy to use, it allows you to be creative, often, and without the fuss of ice, salt or prefrozen bowls.
The 1-1/2 quart capacity is perfect for an average family, with some to spare, though for big parties you'd have to make more then one batch. Of course multiple batches are no problem with this machine and we've done 3-4 batches in a row more then a few times. Unfortunately since the bowl is not removable (the blades and cover are) you'll have to clean it out with a sponge and warm/soapy water between batches of different flavors.
You will need to have a permanent space for it since it is heavy and not the type of appliance you'd want to move in and out of a cabinet. This machine is really beautiful too with its stainless steel body/blade and eye appealing curves, it occupies a prominent spot in our home and has been a conversation piece. I consider it a practical "luxury" appliance.
This is a solid well built machine that should last a long time, my only concern is with the plastic cover, though it does seem sturdy enough. The plastic cover does however allow you to see your dessert while its being made, great for kids (and adults) anxious for dessert.
If you or your family loves frozen desserts, this is the machine for you. I've been looking at it for awhile now, I'm so glad I decided to buy it.

(More customer reviews)As a serious cook with a big oven I needed a serious oven mit, not some cutsy kitchen glove filled with cotton that scorches and gets damp at the first hint of fire or water, leading to burns. This mit is it!!! I've had mine for years and it's as good as new. I can reach way back to the back of my oven to kick start the convection machinery without burning my arm. I can pick up heavy hot things with no fears at all. It's machine washable. No worry that after a few washings the glove won't work. If you are a cook, serious or otherwise, this mit decreases your risk of burns and dropping hot pots. Most other mits can fool you by looking protective long after they are actually effective. This one is the real deal. Worth the price and more.
