(More customer reviews)This is a review for the Kobe Range Hood model no: CH0042SQB. That's the 42" wall mount stainless steel hood. I'm sure it applies to all the other models within this series.
The hood worked fine for a few months and then the motor broke. The motor is under warranty, but in order to get the motor out, I had to hire 2 contractors to carefully take apart some of my cabinets and take apart the hood, which is extremely difficult as the screws are mounted on the top and some from the back. The other alternative would have been to tear the hood off the wall, possibly breaking my cabinets and dislodging the wall tiles. Only then could the repair man get to the motor to replace it. Then it took all 3 of them to put the monster back together again.
The repairman said in general Kobe hoods are pretty good, but this model is just poorly designed. Most other hoods are designed so that the motor can be removed from down below, without taking everything apart.
Used to love this hood, now am very dissatisfied with it. Even though the motor is under warranty (i.e. free), I had to pay the two contractors to take apart my kitchen to get to the motor, and pay them to put it all back.
Buyer Beware of this model! Before you buy any hood, ask how easy it will be to make repairs.
