They're great for scraping crusted-on stuff off your pans, or gummy flour off your counter after you knead bread dough, and other similar tasks. They're soft and flexible enough to use on non-stick surfaces, and rigid enough to do a good job. I bought a variety of brands over the years trying to find what I remembered from my childbood. They were all either too rigid or too floppy to get the job done right. Finally, I came across these on Amazon, and based on the reviews, I ordered them. While slightly thinner than what I remember, they do what they are meant to do. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of five is that after months of ownership and not very intense use, the edges are getting nicked up and bent. The two my mother had lasted 20 years at least and still had straight and unwarped edges. So, they do what they're meant to do, but are definitely a more "disposable" product than I was anticipating.
